The Areas We Cover
We work out of Brainerd and cover the towns around it: Baxter, 4 miles out, Long Lake at 6 miles, East Gull Lake at 8, Nisswa at 11, Ironton and Lake Shore and Pillager each around 13, Crosby at 15, Deerwood at 16, Pequot Lakes at 17, Breezy Point at 18, and Motley at 19. If your address falls in that ring, we can get a truck to you. The housing stock across this service area is mostly 1980s and 90s construction, with some homes going back to 1957, which matters for a quote because older openers and doors from that era often use hardware sizes and mounting setups that newer stock doors don't match. When you call, tell us which of these towns you're in - it helps us figure out drive time and whether we're dealing with original equipment or something already replaced once.
What We Do Not Take On
We don't price or promise anything sight-unseen beyond a phone estimate, because a garage door problem that sounds simple on the phone can turn out to be something else once we're looking at the track and the spring. We don't do custom architectural doors built to a design spec - if you want something far outside a standard residential door, we're not the shop for that job. We also won't quote a flat number for a door we haven't seen if the opener, springs, and panels are all different ages, which happens a lot in homes built in the 1957-1999 range once one part's been swapped and the rest hasn't. And if a door's cold-weather damage looks like it's from repeated freeze-thaw cycling typical of this climate band, we need to see it in person before we say whether it's a repair or a full replacement - guessing on that over the phone does nobody any favors.
What We Actually Do
We repair and replace residential garage doors: broken torsion and extension springs, bent tracks, worn rollers, frayed cables, openers that won't respond, and panels that have taken a hit. We work on doors across the age range common here, including the older one-piece and sectional doors still found in homes built before 1986 median construction, and on newer sectional doors from the 1990s stock. To give you an accurate quote we need a few things: the door's approximate age, whether it's one door or a double, what's actually wrong (won't open, makes noise, off its track, spring snapped), and whether the opener is original or has been replaced. Photos help. What we can't price without seeing the door in person is anything involving rust-through on panels, track that's bent in more than one place, or an opener and door combination that's been patched together over the years - cold winters here are hard on hardware, and a phone description doesn't tell us enough in those cases. Call (218) 261-5574 or reach us at 1903 S 6th St, Brainerd, MN 56401 to get started.
Frequently asked questions
What information do you need for an accurate quote over the phone?
Tell us the door's approximate age, whether it's a single or double door, the specific symptom (won't open, off track, broken spring, noisy opener), and whether the opener has been replaced since the door was installed. Photos of the spring, track, and any damage help a lot and often save a second trip.
Can you give me a firm price without seeing the door?
For straightforward jobs, like a single broken spring on a standard door, we can usually give a close phone estimate. Anything involving bent track in more than one spot, rusted panels, or mismatched opener and door age needs an in-person look before we commit to a number.
Do you cover my town if I'm not in Brainerd itself?
We cover Baxter, Long Lake, East Gull Lake, Nisswa, Ironton, Lake Shore, Pillager, Crosby, Deerwood, Pequot Lakes, Breezy Point, and Motley, all within about 19 miles of Brainerd. Tell us your town when you call so we can plan the drive.
Why won't you quote a custom architectural door the same way?
Custom-built doors don't follow standard sizing or hardware, so a phone estimate isn't reliable. We'd need to see the opening and talk through what you want before any number means anything.
